One Starting Line. Thousands of Personal Journeys. |
Whether you're an experienced runner or simply looking for an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday morning, the Totalsports Women's Race returns to Johannesburg on 16 August with 5km and 10km options for women of all fitness levels. |

Some Sunday mornings are made for slowing down.
Others remind us just how good it feels to get outside, breathe in the fresh air and move our bodies.
On Sunday, 16 August, thousands of women will gather at Marks Park Sports Club in Emmarentia for the Totalsports Women's Race, one of Johannesburg's best-known Women's Month events. Not everyone taking part will be chasing a personal best.
Some will be running their first 10 kilometres. Others will be walking the 5-kilometre route with friends, sisters, daughters or colleagues. Many will simply be enjoying the atmosphere and ticking something off their personal bucket list.
That's what makes this event so welcoming.
It's not about being the fastest person on the course. It's about taking part.
Participants can choose between a 10km race or a 5km fun run or walk, making it accessible to experienced runners as well as those who simply want to enjoy an active morning outdoors. The Johannesburg event forms part of the annual Totalsports Women's Race Series, which is also held in Cape Town and Durban during Women's Month.
As runners and walkers make their way around the course, they'll join thousands of other women who have decided to spend the morning doing something positive for themselves. And that's something worth celebrating.
Each participant receives an official event T-shirt and a finisher's medal, while the finish village offers entertainment and an opportunity to relax after crossing the finish line. The event also continues its long-standing partnership with PinkDrive, helping shine a spotlight on breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection.
Perhaps the best part is that you don't need months of training to enjoy the experience.
Health experts agree that regular physical activity, even something as simple as a brisk walk, can improve heart health, reduce stress, boost mood and help you sleep better. Sometimes all we need is a reason to take that first step.
For some people, that reason is signing up for an event like this. For others, it's spending quality time with people they care about. Either way, everyone crosses the same finish line.
The Bottom Line
The Totalsports Women's Race isn't only about running. It's about making time for yourself.
It's about choosing movement over excuses, enjoying a morning outdoors and sharing an experience with thousands of other women doing exactly the same thing.
Whether you walk every kilometre, jog at your own pace or run the full 10 kilometres, you'll leave with more than a medal. You'll leave knowing you showed up, and sometimes that's the biggest achievement of all. |
