A struggling bonsai could give you another reason to visit Killarney Mall this weekend. The Houghton Bonsai, Succulent & Plant Show includes a free Bonsai Doctor service, offering advice daily from 09:00 to 10:00.
The show runs from Friday, 30 October to Sunday, 1 November 2026, with free entry. Visitors can browse bonsai, succulents, orchids and indoor plants, with opportunities to speak to specialist growers before choosing something to take home.
Orchids Join the Show
The Witwatersrand Orchid Society joins this year’s programme with a Spring Orchid Display, plants for sale and live potting demonstrations.
Whether you collect plants or are choosing your first, it is a chance to ask about the light, watering, and growing conditions a potential purchase needs.
Something for Younger Visitors
The free Kids’ Zone operates on Saturday and Sunday in the former Exclusive Books space, opposite Mugg & Bean.
Killarney Mall advertises activities including face painting, balloon sculpting, soft play, a Bubble House and succulent cake crafts.
The organisers also list Bright Sparks science sessions at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00 on both days, featuring live experiments with Barry Myers.
Before You Go
The Bottom Line.
Before buying, describe where the plant will live and ask the grower whether it will suit that space. A plant you can care for is a better purchase than one you choose for looks alone. |
