A Silent Book Club Is Taking Over the Gautrain This Friday

Bring a book and board at Marlboro for the most peaceful commute you will ever have

A Silent Book Club Is Taking Over the Gautrain This Friday

Reading on the Rails

On Friday 18 April, the Jozi Silent Book Club is doing something a little different. Instead of meeting at a cafe or a park, they are taking their books onto the Gautrain.

The idea is simple. Meet at Marlboro Station in Johannesburg, board the train, and spend 30 minutes reading as you travel in comfort to Hatfield in Pretoria.

Once you arrive, there is time to step off, grab a meal or a coffee, and explore the nearby cafes. Then you board again for the return trip and spend another hour reading before arriving back at Marlboro.

No Assigned Reading, No Pressure

This is not your typical book club. There is no assigned reading. No one is going to quiz you on themes or ask for a review. You bring whatever you are reading and enjoy it in a shared, peaceful space.

The Jozi Silent Book Club has been hosting events like this across Johannesburg for a while now. They bring together book lovers from all walks of life to simply enjoy reading together. Talk if you want to. Or just read in peace. The choice is yours.

R1 Parking at Gautrain Stations

Gautrain is currently running a R1 per day parking special at its stations. The Gautrain fare for the return trip between Marlboro and Hatfield will apply as normal.
