Tashas Nelson Mandela Square Just Reopened and It Looks Completely Different
If you have been to Tashas at Nelson Mandela Square before, forget what you remember. The Sandton favourite closed late last year, and when it reopened, everything had changed.
Same name. Same love for big flavours and beautiful spaces. But a completely new restaurant.
New Look, New Vibe, Same Sandton Address
The old interior is gone. In its place is a warm, modern space built around earthy tones and elegant textures. All the new furniture was made by a Cape Town based company, keeping it proudly South African.
The layout is calm and open. Even when the place is packed, and it was packed on a Wednesday lunchtime, it still feels relaxed. That takes clever design.
The biggest shift is the lighting. Tashas has always been a breakfast and lunch favourite. But with the new ambience, it now works just as well for dinner. That is a smart move for a restaurant in a square full of competition.
The Menu: Pasta, Steak, and Tableside Parmesan
The baked meat pasta is the standout. Rich bacon and cream flavours, topped with mozzarella and parmesan grated tableside. It is under R150 and the portion is big enough to share.
The steak and fries is solid. Juicy, well cooked, with fries that are crisp without being greasy.
Start with a pineapple juice with a ginger shot if you want something refreshing. Simple but perfectly done.
Date Night, Work Lunch, or Sunday With the Family
That is the thing about Tashas. It works for everyone. Business lunches in one corner. Couples in another. Families around the big tables. A quiet coffee on the new outdoor deck.
It is the kind of restaurant that adapts to whatever you need it to be.
The Bottom Line
Tashas did not just reopen. It reinvented itself. In a square full of restaurants fighting for attention, this one earned it back.
If you have not been since the revamp, it is worth a visit just to see the new space. The food is a bonus.
