The Vegan Chef Unveils New Winter Comfort Food Menu in SandtonThe Vegan Chef in Sandton has launched a new winter menu designed to bring warmth and comfort to plant-based diners. The popular restaurant is known for creative vegan offerings that do not compromise on flavour. New Winter Menu Items
The latest additions focus on hearty comfort food with a plant-based twist. The menu now includes potato samosas, plant-based butter chicken, or bean bunny chows, carrot cake, and freshly baked scones served with plant-based cream and jam.
Chef Su, the founder, explains the thinking behind the new dishes. It is a very comfort-food sort of menu that you cannot get anywhere else because you cannot get a creamy sauce option like the butter chicken in a plant-based format. Customer Favourites Already Emerging
The carrot cake has quickly become an early favourite among customers. Chef Su says it has such a beautiful spice element to it. The bunny chow is another standout, described as filling and perfect for winter. You definitely have to bring your appetite for it.
The scones were inspired by the restaurant's successful Mother's Day high tea event. We hosted a Mother's Day high tea, and it was a really high-end experience for customers. We made scones with cream and jam on them, and everybody loved them so much. That gave us the idea to launch it on the winter menu as well. Breaking Boundaries in Plant-Based Dining
Chef Su acknowledges the challenges of staying innovative in the vegan food space. It is really tough in our market because we are breaking boundaries. You have got to create all these plant-based dishes. The menu has to stay innovative, and I think that is what customers really appreciate.
The official launch was planned for 1 June, but customer demand during trial tastings brought the release forward. We were going to launch it on the 1st of June, and while we were doing trials in store, customers kept walking in asking for tasters. What You Need to Know
